The multi-colored hibiscus art painted inside the Hawaiian Hibiscus ornament was inspired by Hawaii’s ever present hibiscus flowers. Pink, yellow, red and even some deep purple hibiscus flowers and lush green leaves weave a graceful pattern around the entire ornament. The beautiful hibiscus flowers in so many colors are certainly one of the images that spring to mind of any flower lover when thinking of Hawaii.
Seven species of Hibiscus are native to the islands. They grace the sides of roads, private and public gardens, line the driveways leading up to the most upscale hotels, sprout in even small areas bordering parking lots and are abundant with their magnificently colored flowers and blossoms throughout the year.
The pink flowered Hibiscus is probably the most common, and is also considered indigenous to Hawaii, though it may simply have been introduced by Polynesians to the islands. The yellow Hibiscus is the Hawaii state flower. One species of red Hibiscus, Hibiscus clayi, is found mainly in Kauai and is now listed as endangered.

United StatesWe originally bought this ornament in 2010 while vacationing in Oahu. However while decorating our tree just a week and a half ago, this precious ornament came crashing down- I was heartbroken! While we were sweeping up the shattered pieces, my husband noticed the artist’s insignia- so we looked online and were thrilled to see that the same exact ornament was still available 10 years later!!! And it arrived so quickly- it made my day!!! It’s still so lovely!!! And reminds us of our wonderful vacation 10 1/2 years ago!
